Suhani has been with Sense for three years.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I lead engineering for our Consumer app – working closely with design, product, data science and engineering to build smart, user-friendly experiences that help people better understand and manage their energy use.<\/h4>\n

About Your Role at Sense<\/h4>\n

What drew you to work at Sense?<\/h5>\n

The mission and the people. During my interview process, every conversation felt genuine, thoughtful, and full of purpose. It was clear this was a place where people cared deeply about the work and each other<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite part of your job?<\/h5>\n

The people, hands down. I get to work with incredibly creative, curious, and driven teammates who challenge me in the best ways. Also, building something that\u2019s actually helping the planet is incredibly rewarding.<\/p>\n

What advice would you give someone looking to join Sense?<\/h5>\n

Be curious, be humble, and come ready to collaborate. If you love solving meaningful problems with great people, you\u2019ll feel right at home here.<\/p>\n

Thoughts on the Energy Industry<\/h4>\n

How does working in climate tech change your perspective on energy use at home?<\/h5>\n

Working in climate tech has completely shifted how I think about energy use at home. Before, it felt invisible\u2014I didn\u2019t think much about where it came from or how I used it. Now, I see every device and appliance as part of a bigger system. I\u2019m more intentional: unplugging devices that draw power even when off, paying attention to when I run the dishwasher or laundry, and thinking about how my choices impact the grid and the environment. It\u2019s made me realize that small actions really do matter, especially when they\u2019re scaled across millions of homes.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s a term or concept in energy that more people should know about?<\/h5>\n

Load shifting. It means moving your energy use to off-peak times, when electricity is cleaner and often cheaper. It\u2019s a simple but powerful concept that can have a big impact, especially as more people adopt smart home tools. With platforms like Apple HomeKit, it\u2019s becoming easier to automate this, like scheduling your EV to charge at night or running appliances when the grid is less stressed.<\/p>\n

Life Outside of Work<\/h4>\n

What\u2019s your go-to way to recharge after a long day?<\/h5>\n

A good HIIT or pilates session. Clears the mind and resets the energy.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s your favorite place you\u2019ve ever traveled to?<\/h5>\n

New Zealand. It\u2019s the most peaceful and breathtaking place.<\/p>\n

Coffee or tea\u2014and how do you take it?<\/h5>\n

Definitely coffee. Lattes are my go-to. I actually run an Instagram page where I explore and review coffee shops around the Dallas-Fort Worth area, with photos and mini reviews. It\u2019s my creative outlet.<\/p>\n
